Gary,
Evidently operating "separate" is the most reasonable option? These rigs
are not on continuously, and while haven't checked into the crystal
"colors", if they aren't matched, not sure what could be done about it
decades after these rigs were built.
I will make one try at adjusting C61 after they have both warmed up for an
hour, just to see if that improves things. It's not a big deal, had been
happily using them without the injection cable and in "separate" mode for
awhile.

Curt -
You need to do the "Transceive Align" procedure in the T-4XB manual,
Section IV, paragraph E.
This setting is temperature sensitive, and tends to drift over time.
Drake's answer was Color-Coded Crystals as described in
<http://www.wb4hfn.com/DRAKE/DrakeArticles/CrystalCodes.htm>
Very late R-4As had the color coded crystals, as do all the R-4Bs.
The C-Line resolved the problem by adding another cable between the two
units to phase lock the two oscillators together.

I had been using my T-4XB and R-4A in separate mode since buying them.
Recently hooked up injection cable and tried "transmitter" control.
Folks with the 40M net said I was off frequency, about 300 Hz low. Maybe
am just not seeing it, but the manual doesn't mention correcting th.
Appreciate advice about correcting this problem.
