I've found that the lube of the plastic dials can have an effect as well. Have
fun getting them lined back up properly if you disassemble the whole assembly.
The main point of interest seems to be the contact between the brass bushing
and the outer shaft. TriFlow bicycle grease, lightly applied, works pretty
well.
