A trick that can help. Use an ohm meter to find where its shorting. If nothing is evident on visual inspection stick a sheet of paper into each space until you find one that makes the short go away. If there is more than one shorted spot you may have to put several sheets of paper in. Usually, you will find that something is slightly bent or has arced or something has fallen into the plates.
