It is all Lacquer based...I use a lot of dope..on models. I'm not sure if the HV stuff has any additives in it to make it more dielectric or not.

I do know that the newer transformer insulating varnish isnt varnish at all but a form of epoxy. I guess it depends on what you are asking the coating to do.

Based upon some of the tips that I received, I'm going to contact the local automotive shops in the coming week to see if they might sell the stuff in small quantities---and if worse comes to worst, I guess I can always press my daughter's finger-nail polish into service!
