My sincere thanks to all who chimed in recently with suggestions on my
loud hum in the transceiver. After considering all, I decided to go with the
Harbach Electronics ES4AC-4 rebuild kit. Man, what a deal !! $80.00 and you
get 2 PC boards built-up... Basically all the parts to completely replace
the original ones; except for the transformer. Now, I am not an electronic
whiz by any means. My 37 years in aircraft maintenance at United Airlines
was 99% nuts and bolts and rivets. Any electrical problems were settled by
replacing units. But, this kit has a magnificent set on instructions
coupled with many great color pictures of the before and after views.
It took me about 4 hours to complete, and then another hour or so double
and triple checking my connections. I have no meter capable of testing the
voltages required, so after those wiring checks, I just plugged her in and
turned on the power switch. Works like a charm. So, I highly recommend
this kit to all.
