FWIW, the former case is because releasing the enter key generates an input event, which changes the DPMS state to on again. You can avoid that with something like "sleep 1 && xset dpms force off". -- Earthling Michel Dänzer | http://www.amd.com Libre software enthusiast | Mesa and X developer
