Actually, I believe with a) the sw values (table, calculated or otherwise) are
ignored and the hw does its own thing. With b) you will most likely use the
table since all common modes will be in that table. So the calculation was most
likely never tested.

As for the out of spec one, that would be 640x480 at 60/1.001 Hz.
