Of course, I poked it ; ) But the code seems Savage3D specific: the 3D regs 
were less and differently ordered. So I fear that most part of that code 
won't work [once ported to DRI] out of the box for Savage4 ; (

I run epsxe. Not sure it is opensource, but it was the one I tried which 
performed best with my virge 3d driver, and so ...
