Anyway this is very interesting stuff, because I encountered something
similar on a totally different platform.
Since yesterday evening I have dual TRAM in my SGI Octane, so I am now able
to run FlightGear on this machine with reasonable frame rates. In certain
conditions I have a somewhat similar effect on this platform and I am now
investigating if there is any connection.
Sorry for being somewhat 'diabled' at the moment - I'll show up as soon as
it makes sense,
