No, it's not the S3TC stuff -- note the warnings in the logfile in my original email warning that a lack of S3TC support will lead to reduced performance. Googling around reveals that UT2003 complains about missing XiG-SUNDRY-NONSTANDARD extensions for other people and it appears entirely benign.
