------- Additional Comments From [EMAIL PROTECTED] 2003-07-03 16:45 ------- I can confirm this for my Libranet 2.8 box as well. With DRI enabled, my 2D work is unaffected. The second I try to do a resolution change or switch into full screen 3D mode (i.e. tuxracer), the whole screen goes black and I cannot change console or anything. I ssh'ed into my system when it died like this from my Titanium. I saw XFree86 running with 99.9-100% CPU usage, clearly caught in an infinite loop. Tuxracer was also running but using hardly any CPU/memory. I killed tuxracer from top, but no response seemed to happen on my machine. I then killed X, and the machine was still unresponsive. Finally, I did a kill -9 -1 to kill everything (including SSH), and my machine remained hung. I have tried both the latest debian dri-trunk and the one that comes default with my kernel, 2.4.21-ac4 (I needed the AC4 for agpgart support, I'm running a VIA P4M266 chipset here). Here are some strange things as well: -A lot of the time if I log in and the first thing I do is run tuxracer, I am stuck with a frozen machine. -If instead I log in, run glxinfo and glxgears, then run tuxracer, it works 90% of the time. If I quit tuxracer and run it again, it usually blacks out. -If instead of running it again right after I quit I run glxinfo/glxgears, I usually can start it again. I can do this 5-6 times sometimes, but eventually one restart of tuxracer will cause a system hang. I think what someone said above is right--some logic is flawed in the DRI driver and it's getting caught in an infinite loop. I am really eager to solve this problem, so I'll do anything you X developers ask of me :) -Andrew if you want to get in touch with me, use: pixelmonkey ___AT___ pixelmonkey ___DOT___ org ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are the assignee for the bug, or are watching the assignee. ------------------------------------------------------- This SF.Net email sponsored by: Free pre-built ASP.NET sites including Data Reports, E-commerce, Portals, and Forums are available now.
