That did it. Now I it starts. It gets to the point where it says xdriinfo not found, so driconf seems to be ok, only I don't have xdriinfo. It uses the dri version that came with the Suse XFree86 4.3.0, and that is probably too old.

The dri configuration infrastructure is not present in any XFree86 or
XOrg release (AFAIK). You need to install DRI from a binary snapshot or
compile it from source. Both ways should install xdriinfo in
/usr/X11R6/bin.

What could be wrong here? I have python-gtk 2.0.0, GTK+ 1.2 and 2.2, and whatever else comes with Suse 9.0.

For gtk2 you should be using driconf 0.2.2, not 0.1.2. This should fix
the warnings during the installation process.

No, it's the same with both versions.

Strange. Do you also get these warning when starting driconf?

No.

Maybe this
happens if setup.py can't connect to an X display.

No, it does not happen when the user can't connect to the display. It happens only when he can.
Anyway, if you have
pygtk-2 then you should really use driconf-0.2.2. It looks much nicer.

As I have a version that works with gtk 1.2 only, I stick with it, and don't care about the look.
