Trying to help a friend fix his computer, it appears to be attempting to drive
the monitor at refresh rates in excess of what it can handle and exceeding
the values it has been given via the monitor section of the X config file.

Video card is an onboard ATi Radeon 9100, Monitor is an LG but I've forgotten
the exact model (755?).

When X starts, after a few seconds the monitors own info display appears
reporting that the refresh rate is too high and giving both the attempted
value and the monitors actual capabilities, the monitor can do up to 70Hz and
the values attempted range from 71 up to almost 200Hz.

The refresh is set manually in the X Config file, I will endeavour to get you
a copy of the file (refresh limits were added using x86config). Any idea what
the fault might be?
