Well, don't know about your specific monitor, but here I have a LG Studioworks 
775N (17") working well connected to a S3 Savage4. Here I use the following 
rates:

Horiz(user defined): 30-70; Vert(user defined): 50-160; I don't use 
resolutions higher than 1024x768 (it does 1024x768 @ 75 Hz, but this monitor 
can't do 1280x900 properly, it does it at 60Hz, the minimum recommended is 
75Hz, if I'm not mistaken).
