Try latest 2.6.x kernel. You might need to apply the rc4 patch.
There is an option in the driver to enable DDC/i2c.
ah ok. I was just confused with "old" vs. "new" radeonfb. The one in
kernel 2.6.8 has that DDC/i2c option already (and it doesn't load, but
due to another reason). I'll update to 2.6.9 anyway, it is already released.
