That, or at least don't allow enabling them if tiling is disabled. Maybe they would be useful if done by the engine instead of the CPU?
I think really the radeon hardware is heavily tilted towards private depth buffers, maybe the effort would be better spent in that direction. Another two-way handshake required, but if we get comfortable with that idea, it should be fairly easy to get working.
