Hi,
You can install the 2.6.28 kernel from Jaunty (Ubuntu 9.04 in
development), it works fine in 8.10 here. Either add the jaunty repo
and upgrade the kernel (I think upgrading linux-image-generic will
pull it in), or pick the .deb package from
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux (for instance
linux-image-2.6.28-4-generic_2.6.28-4.9_i386.deb).
