I've updated the device-drivers leaders page at http://opensolaris.org/os/community/device_drivers/leaders/
So that it now shows the contributor grants that have been recorded. Many thanks to Stephen Lau for creating the code to facilitate this. Now that I see that, there are some grants that I think are missing. I'm proposing the following people for grants. Please let me know by responding with a +1 or -1. (I need 2 more +1's and no -1's to approve these folks.) In particular, I want to get this resolved before elections. * Jurgen Keil: Core Contributor - Jurgen has been active with suspend/resume, and has offered a number of hacks to improve that. He has also authored a few other device drivers of his own. * Alan DuBoff: Contributor - Alan has been a facilitator for others getting their code in. Notably, he sponsored the putback of sfe, is working on some other NIC drivers, and has also worked with me on the QA testing required to integrate afe and mxfe. * Masayuki Murayama: Core Contributor - Murayama's NIC drivers are fairly famous throughout the community. * Javen Wu: Contributor - Javen has been active with storage adapters. * David Gwynne: Contributor - David wrote the "mfi" driver that some folks are using. He's also the author of quite a few OpenBSD drivers, some of which have probably been used within OpenSolaris. * Alta Elstad: Contributor - Alta has played a significant role in enhancing the Writing Device Drivers document. As far as the designation between CC and C grants, I've tried to limit CC grants to people whom I think have contributed actual code that is widely used by the community, and whom I think are likely to participate in elections and represent the community well. I am not interested in handing out CC grants to folks that I don't think will vote in elections. * James Liu: Contributor - James has been active at Sun in working with 3rd party OEMs to "encourage" them to have their products supported in (Open)Solaris. Just yesterday he called me up to follow up on where things were at w.r.t. Intel and open sourcing iprb. * Randy Fishel: Core Contributor - Randy has been quite involved with suspend/resume as the S3 suspend/resume project lead. But his background and experience extend to lots of other device drivers in OpenSolaris. He's been readily accessible to the community as well. I'm happy to hear other suggestions or suggestions why people I've offered up for Contributor grants should get Core Contributor grants instead. (For some of the C grant suggestions, I was sort of on the fence about whether CC grant might be more appropriate. I figured better to err on the side of caution -- I'd far rather be asked to promote someone later to CC than to make a mistake and wind up wanting to demote a CC to a C.) -- Garrett _______________________________________________ driver-discuss mailing list driver-discuss@opensolaris.org http://mail.opensolaris.org/mailman/listinfo/driver-discuss
