Please file a bug about this hot-plug issue as Milan suggested.
Just want to make sure, is there any other option about this SATA
controller from BIOS except PATA mode?
Solaris does have the ahci driver which supports AHCI mode. But I think
AHCI appear since ICH6 and ESB2.
