hi, I am using the Simics simulator to simulate a serengeti machine for the purpose of research.
The PCI devices have three memory spaces: configuration, i/o and memory space in the memory map. Now, I want to write a driver for a particular PCI device. One of the entries in the driver is going to provide a way allocating the PCI memory space by some designate algorithm. I am new in PCI driver writing, can anyone tell me if the PCI memory space specified by the BAR(Base Address Register) in PCI configuration space is capable of being allocated by the user program or by the device driver?
