Other folks besides those on our list have LP accounts, and if not they will most likely want to create one after attending for the mailing list, so this gets them in the LP door. I liked how Monty set things up, and requiring a LP account that allows for easier participation with other projects too is not such a bad thing (certainly better than a one-off wiki, drizzle.org).
