And I accidentally pressed send mid sentence (gotta love iPhone typing). For example, I don't know how to see how big (bytes wise) a table is aside from asking the filesystem about the file (such as with ls). I might ask why the SQL server is eating my harddrive space, and tracking down the offending table would be a pain with random characters. Although, from a programming point of view, I would personally go the random name route but that just makes poking around the file structure quite obscure unless there was also a file in the database directory that listed each table name / filename pair. I could then look at said file to correlate that with my filesize data.
