All,

As of this month, all DSpace 7 bug reports and feature requests are moving to
GitHub Issues. Any existing DSpace 7 JIRA tickets are being migrated to GitHub
issues (in the coming days).

As our DSpace 7 team has gotten further along in the development process (see
our recent beta 3
release<https://lyrasisnow.org/now-available-dspace-7-0-beta-3/>), we've found
it easier to use GitHub for everything, including managing any bug/feature
tickets. This has several key advantages:

  1. Developers are able to keep all their work in GitHub, without having to
check two systems.
  2. Community members (i.e. you) are able to report bugs in GitHub, without
having to signup for a separate JIRA account.
  3. The DSpace 7 team is able to utilize GitHub Project Boards for all
upcoming beta release planning. You can find our new project boards (for beta 4
and other upcoming releases) linked from
https://wiki.lyrasis.org/display/DSPACE/DSpace+7+Project+Boards

What does this mean for you?

  * If you find a bug/issue in a DSpace 7 beta release, please report it
through GitHub directly. The DSpace 7 team will be notified & analyze/schedule
it for fixing. See the "Try out DSpace 7" wiki page for more details:
https://wiki.lyrasis.org/display/DSPACE/Try+out+DSpace+7#TryoutDSpace7-ReportingIssues
  * If you find a bug/issue in DSpace 6 or below, please continue to use JIRA
at this time: https://jira.lyrasis.org/projects/DS/issues (NOTE: At a future
date, likely after v7.0 is released, we may migrate these old JIRA tickets over
to GitHub issues as well. However, we'll let you know before that occurs.)

Please note, we are not moving away from our existing Wiki
(https://wiki.lyrasis.org/display/DSPACE) or Wiki Documentation
(https://wiki.lyrasis.org/display/DSDOC6x). So, if you wish to help improve our
documentation, you will still need a separate Wiki login account (and those may
be requested by emailing wikih...@lyrasis.org).

If there are any questions, feel free to let us know!

Tim Donohue
(On behalf of the Committers & DSpace 7 team)
