If you are customizing any top level dspace-xxxx projects, and still wanting to
run the build only in [dspace-src]/dspace to package, you will need to run 'mvn
install' on those projects you have customized to get those changes in your
separate [dspace-src]/dspace maven package.
Caveat: We do recommend not customizing the dspace-xxxx projects directly
unless your working via SVN trunk or branches to make contributions back to the
DSpace community. Working on these libraries locally, running "mvn install" may
create situations where your libraries are confused with the official DSpace
libraries released into the Maven central repository. In such cases it will be
difficult to determine if your changes were correctly delivered to your
application without comparing the class jars directly.
We recommend that for local installations of DSpace, you focus on using the
non-source release for your deployments and focus on only changing the
documented plugin and branding customization points in DSpace.
