Graham, Agreed, but for those who want the shortcut of just altering the 
source, doesn't this create more work for them on merging changes?  Maybe we 
would bebest served to switch to using ${project.version} in the dependency 
definitions and then you would only need to update the version number across 
the parent sections of the poms.
