Some institutions don't want to display the Request Copy button for all item types. The improvement would be a configuration option, which, if turned on, would display the Request Copy button only for documents with a specified values of a metadata field.
e,g,: request.item.dc.type = info:eu-repo/semantics/bachelorThesis, \ info:eu-repo/semantics/masterThesis, \ info:eu-repo/semantics/doctoralThesis
If this configuration property is present, the button will be displayed only for theses.
In addition, it makes sense to add the request button for metadata-only items (based on a metadata value as described above ), too, because there are cases where there is a) a metadata-only record in DSpace for a physical item b) during digitization, metadata records are available first and digital objects added gradually c) metadata-only item, but a digital copy might be available outside of DSpace (e.g. via ILL, in a different system, ...) d) other cases?
