Interesting. From the PRISM FAQ (http://www.prismstandard.org/faq/):

DocBook uses Dublin Core to describe metadata, as does PRISM. The
PRISM metadata vocabulary can be used to supplement the metadata
features offered in the DocBook specification.

and:

PRISM incorporated existing industry standards such as Dublin Core
and XHTML in order to leverage work that had already been done in
the publishing industry. New elements were created only when
required, and were assigned to PRISM specific namespaces.

I guess there is some confusion of terms here: Google Scholar seem to
be saying that they prefer objects in the PRISM *namespace*, although
the PRISM *specification* embraces DC. Thus they manage to be picky
without being precise -- quite a feat.

It sounds to me as though GS wouldn't much care for such a crosswalk,
since it would only import data which they consider imprecise into a
namespace which they consider more precise, masking the assumed rascal
quality of our data behind trusted names.

Maybe instead it's time for a review of metadata defined in the stock
DSpace in comparison with sites' requirements.

(Heh, this topic is itself a nice example of the value of namespaces.
I'm struggling to avoid associating PRISM with an experimental RISC
microprocessor from some years back.)
