Hi everyone,

I was actually only recently asked if there's a place with dumps of
repositories for testing purposes by someone else. And I think it's a
good idea to have such place. Therefore I'd like to ask all of you, if
you have data under a license that allows redistribution (public
domain, Creative Commons, GPL, GFDL) or if you're the copyright holder
and are willing to release it under such license to let us know. Also
demo.dspace.org would benefit if it was filled with this kind of data.

Another thing I wanted to say is that if you need data for testing
purposes (i.e. you don't intend to redistribute it, e.g. make it
publicly available in your repository), you can use the OAI harvester
in DSpace to harvest any public repository with the OAI-PMH interface
turned on. Some repositories may even have publicly accessible
bitstreams which can be harvested via OAI-ORE, provided it's a DSpace
instance using XMLUI with OAI-PMH enabled.

So, to sum it up:
1) if you need data for internal testing purposes only, you can
harvest most repositories via OAI-PMH
2) for convenience, it would be beneficial to have a place of dumps of
repositories which allow redistribution

If you have redistributable data and are busy/lazy to send a dump, let
me know anyway, I can do the harvesting myself.

Regards,
