OK, maybe I could be more explicit - you can do either a) or b) - b)
is faster, so you can just work in your /data/webapps/xmlui/themes/
directory without waiting for your admin.

When using the b) approach, just keep in mind that next time you'll do
a), any changes in [dspace] will be replaced by changes from
[dspace-source]. That's why it's best to work in [dspace] (no need to
rebuild), but always copy it to the corresponding place in
[dspace-source].

This changes the dri2xhtml-alt theme (and any themes derived from it
like Mirage). You said you were using the Reference theme - that one
is derived from dri2xhtml instead. Look at the diff again and use the
second change (to dri2xhtml/DIM-Handler.xsl).
