Hello Erik, The problem might be that 'root' or some other user owns some of the subdirectories in the assetstore folder. You might have run the system or batch imported items as the "root" user at some point, instead of the dspace user (or the user you run tomcat under). When a file is added to the asset store it gets an arbitrarily allocated location. If the file gets allocated to a directory owned by root, it cannot be stored. Changing the owner of the assetstore recursively to the dspace user should fix the problem.
