Hello, As far as the e-mail failure is concerned there might be many reasons, as a full mailbox, mailserver failure, or even a firewall blocking the SMTP port.
However, you could always try using the /dspace/bin/create-administrator tool that might create another admin account in Dspace, from which you might be able to reset the password to the other admin account.
