Hi Sean,

it should show by default in all themes distributed with DSpace 3.x.
Assuming you're running DSpace 3.x with a customized theme from an
older version made by simply copying the theme and then customizing
it, it won't work. That's why I recommend to customize themes by using
XSLT overrides, that way you mostly get upgrades effortlessly.

If you have a copied custom theme, here's how to put the lock icon code into it:
https://github.com/DSpace/DSpace/pull/74/files

That code modifies all themes, both the old ones based on dri2xhtml
and the new ones based on dri2xhtml-alt.
