Hi,

after 3.9.0 we should start to work on a better design of dspam. There is a 
big problem which should/could be avoided.

If you run dspam in daemon mode and a user should be able to call dspam as a 
client, you have to set the suid bit for dspam. So that dspam is able to read 
the config file to get the credentials to connect to the daemon. This should 
be changed.

There should be a client only configuration file. You should be able to load 
it from the home directory or specify the config via the command line or the 
credentials.

Working on this we should start to improve libdspam, cause of the above 
problem you can't really make use of it. Maybe the dspam client should use 
libdspam. So you have already a test tool for the library.
