Hi,

I am setting up a new mail server to take the place of an existing one. My old server is a Sendmail server which uses Mimedefang/spamassassin for spam filtering and renattach as a method of filtering out virus-containing attachments.

The server I'm setting up is FreeBSD, runs Sendmail and I'm going to install DSPAM in place of mimedefang/spamassassin as I've heard good things about DSPAM. I've read the DSPAM readme online and have a couple of questions.

1. At one point in the readme it says that the hash driver is the default storage driver then later in the readme it claims the default driver is sqlite_drv which uses SQLite. Which is correct? Since I have never administered any sort of database I think I'ld be better off staying away from anything that requires MySQL, etc. for now.

2. My mail server has about 500 - 600 users. Should I run DSPAM in daemon mode?

If I want to later install something like Amavis for virus scanning can I integrate that into a pre-existing DSPAM installation or do I need to install both of these (DSPAM and Amavis) at the same time?

Thanks,

Lisa Casey
