My old server is a Sendmail server which uses Mimedefang/spamassassin

questions.

default storage driver then later in the readme it claims the default
driver is sqlite_drv which uses SQLite. Which is correct? Since I have
never administered any sort of database I think I'ld be better off
staying away from anything that requires MySQL, etc. for now.

Hash driver is default, I think SQLite was default in older versions though.

daemon mode?

I'm not sure about this, but I think daemon mode should be preferred in
most cases, I personally run Postfix using LMTP, don't know much about
sendmail.

I integrate that into a pre-existing DSPAM installation or do I need to
install both of these (DSPAM and Amavis) at the same time?
I don't know about Amavis, I use CLAMAV in daemon mode and DSPAM can be
configured to use it just by modifying the config file and restarting. See
the comments in "dspam.conf" for more info.
