Had to drive ~55 miles to get into range of a couple D-star systems.
I did make a couple contacts, great audio no problems once I figured out how to
turn off
the WX alert check. That feature is way annoying. it was going to the nws
channel 3
every few seconds like a priority check. luckily I had my laptop with me and
reprogrammed
it off. Couldn't find it on the radio menu or keypad (ID-800H). good results
all around.
I did see user callsigns and messages scrolling by which was pretty cool.

One repeater was VHF and some lid was keying up in analog on the output.

There was also some cable leakage interfering occasionally.
When everyone was being cool it was a blast!

Now to figure out what all the beeps and boops mean. I didn't get much out of
the manual
I think it was machine translated or by someone who does not speak english as
their native
language, shame shame icom. at least let one of your US employees fix it!

there are double beeps, single beeps, and I thought I heard a lower tone beep
too.
Can anyone enlighten me on what they signify. I think one means the repeater
heard/registered you. another one is like a roger beep... not quite sure.

Anyway the radio works and I had fun!
