Thunderbird is fab particularly for portability......
I have my email on a usbkey.
I can plug the usbkey into my XP machine, my win2k machine, my Linux
boxes...anything.
So long as they have thunderbird installed I can do my email anywhere
with that usbkey.
And the user profile (password, connection details) is nice and
portable, not like evolution which is a real mess for people who need
mobility.

So instead of lugging a laptop home, I just need to carry a usbkey in my
pocket if I want to download work email at home!

Sadly I couldnt find a plug-in for thunderbird to handle VCALENDAR
format (for sending meeting invites) so I switched to evolution and life
has been miserable ever since.
