The reason is quite simple. Majority of the people use laptops to watch movies & play games. The glossy screen is actually made for graphics purpose. So if you are a person who is using the laptop for some kinda graphics realted stuffs like gaming, CAD or watching movie. Then surely glossy is for you. I do agree with the part about quality of screen. I am sure that sony's component will be of better quality as they are really expensive. I just cannot remember how was the glossy screen of Sony.
