Hmm, I tried Virtualbox. It looked promising, and I converted my win2k
image to a vdi.
Unfortunately my win2k boot in VB doesn't go beyond the white loading
bar at the bottom.
I read on that conversion page that it can sometimes require to
re-install the guest os to get it to configure the hardware emulated
by VB properly.

I tried to get Ubuntu 7 on a clean VB disk, but I get all kinds of
weird behavior. Gnome crashes and the Ubuntu install hangs.

I like qemu more then.
