#1 Possibility
It is possible the (replacement) CPU card itself is also bad. This can
happen and it is easy to confuse because the machine can still boot. That
means a technician can (mistakenly) assume the CPU card is good when it is
not really OK anymore. When the 2400 exhibits instability after successfully
booting, a defective CPU would be my prime suspect (assuming your Mac OS is
in good, clean working order).
#2 Possibility
You may have residual (partial) corruption in the Power Manager (PM),
despite multiple resets. I went through a crazy period where one of my 2400s
exhibited this symptom (wish I assumed for a while was something else).
#1 Test Cure
Try opening (carefully) just the top part of your 2400 (keyboard, pull back
trackpad) and disconnect black/red PRAM cable with white tab so GLOD is out.
Alternatively (or in addition) you can even leave it a day or two to
completely purge the PM. Then power up and try again.
If this doesn't work, be as specific as possible and I (and/or someone else)
may be able to recommend something else.
