Two things I can think of.  Call support at where you bought it and ask if
they can swap you for another one.  OR... If you can get hold of an external
SCSI HD case, put the Cheetah in it and see if you can resurrect it from
someone else's Mac.

BTW, what OS were you planning on using?  Do you need to have all those
partitions?  (mind you, I'm a big fan of partitioning, but not everybody
needs it.)  Also, how new is MediaFormatter?  I remember hearing of it, but
that was once or twice, years ago.  If you have a friend who has
Silverlining or Hard Disk Toolkit, you might try one of those.
