Quicker?  - I'd have to say no, but it wasn't any slower either.  Of course,
I didn't really pay a lot of attention to the speed of the things you had
mentioned.  I just think the features in 8.6 are superior... and it's very
stable.  In your case, I would just be a bit concerned about RAM.  I'm not
certain of this, but I'd imagine that 8.1 might use less RAM.
