I HAVE heard IE have a problem with displaying random international
characters as "strange symbols". I don't recall that a solution was
discovered.

I recommend switching to Mozilla Browser .
I hear iCab is very small and fast. I may start to use it on my 2400c

Is it only IE that has the trouble. Can you use keycaps to see your umlaute ?

hope all is in order soon
