Did you put in the "Express Modem" extension? The modems in my 230 and 280 are Express modems and I have found that this control panel is needed and should be configured correctly. I am not sure if it comes with 8.1 or 8.0. I am running 8.1 in a 280 also, except mine is B&W, not color.
