really long pause for laughter ... and perhaps we can swap balls ... huge
guffaws.

Any 11mm ball will do the trick. Tolerance is low, but there's some room, +/-
a 1/2 millimeter (you'll note the lock ring is fairly snug around the ball and
that is the real problem). Marbles are good options as are ball bearings, but
11mm marbles are hard to find, bearings are a little easier. It's an odd size.
If you know anyone who does ceramic or porcelain crafts, they could actually
make you one to your specs.
