I have a Duo 2300 with an internal Express Modem. I also have an Apple
MiniDock which I bought following the purchase of a Duo 270c (I believe
it was in 1996)-lit was not made for export. The Minidock has a port for
an external modem with a phone receiver icon on it. I use it to attach a
Global Village Teleport Platinum. Next to it is a printer port. This
same arrangement is found on the back of the DuoDock.

I have far less port problems when I use the MiniDock then when I use my
Duo without a dock.

Just found my Macintosh Duo MiniDock User's Guide. It states, "If you
want to use an external modem with your Macintosh Duo System, connect the
modem cable to the Duo MiniDock port marked with this icon (telephone
receiver). If your computer has an internal modem, select either
Internal or External Modem in the PowerBook control panel before opening
your telecommunications program."

In fact you only need to check or uncheck the box in the Express Modem
Control Panel which reads "use internal modem instead of Modem Port".
