Dear All -

Firstly, thanks to all those who replied to my original post. Lots of
information there. Ain't the 'net wonderful?

In summary. I have three serial ports on the back of the Mini-dock.
One marked with a little printer (usually used for printers and
LocalTalk); one marked with a telephone handset with some dots
(usually used for a modem) [so far so conventional], AND a third one
(right at the left hand end as you look from the back) marked with a
whole telephone (ie handset and base - quaint).

Edgar Peinelt suggested (consistent with my original posting) that it
might be a pass-through port for the internal modem, needing an
(expensive!) adapter to connect to the 'phone system.

David suggested that it might be a Geoport.

Stan quoted from the Mini-dock User Guide staing that it is indeed
for connecting an external modem.

But why three serial ports? What difference might there be between
the conventionally marked modem port and the third one?

Any more ideas?

TIA

Hugh Browton
