Blair,

I was in the same position last month. I had been waiting for 3 months
for the iBook announcement. From reading Ogrady's powerpage, I believed
that the iBook would be as small as, or smaller than, the 2400c. Small
was the deciding factor for me. When the iBook came out as big & heavy as
it was, I ended up getting a 2400c. I love it. It has the Newer 512K
upgrade, and it seems plenty fast to me, although I upgraded from a non
G3 machine, so that probably has something to do with it.

If the iBook was smaller, I would have went with it. It sucks having to
buy all new peripherals to work with the USB port, but if I didn't do it
this time around, I'm gonna have to upgrade them all next time I get a
laptop anyways.

I had never seen a 2400 before I purchased mine either. But I was
pleasantly surprised when I opened the box. It is really small. But if
you can live with the size/weight of the iBook, it is probably a much
better purchase long term.

As wih evreyone else who's responded, I get about 1-1/2 hours of life out
of my batties.

If your kids will be using the laptop, it might be wiser to go with the
iBook abnd it's harder shell. Depending on which 2400 you get, some of
them seem pretty fragile. I have had zero problems with mine so far, but
it seems like some people just can't win with theirs. I'm not sure if
it's poor QC or just that you always hear more from unsatisfied customers
than satisfied ones, but either way, something to consider.
