That hasn't been my experience. I think it sort of cycles. I think my
experiences were more like this:
7.0 - Crashy
7.1 - Stable
7.5.5 - Crashy
7.6.1 - Very Stable
8.0 - Crashy
8.1 - Stable
8.5 - Stable
8.6 - Very Stable
9.0 - To be determined, stable after 4 days.
The terms Crashy and Stable are just MY impressions, you mileage may have
varied.
