The AppleTalk/LocalTalk confusion deepened when competing equipment
manufacturers started making LocalTalk hardware substitutes.

I have pairs of LocalTalk competitor connectors from: Techworks "Technet",
Farallon "PhoneNet", plus one Nuvotech "TurboNet" connector. All that to go
with my two pairs of Apple LocalTalk connectors.

So far I have been getting by with an 10bT Ethernet connection between my
Duo 270c in Dock II and Q840av. ;-)

For what most persons have to do usually, the LocalTalk network is fine.
But ouch for waiting if you want to copy the contents of a hard drive onto
another hard drive, for instance.

If you are going to burn a backup CD, then the actual throughput of your
older CD burner may very well not exceed the bandwidth of the LocalTalk
network. Has anyone tried the hard drive-->LocalTalk-->CD burner route?
